STAR (Seattle Tamil Arts of Rhythm) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Washington state. Our mission is to bring the traditional performing arts of the Tamil community to the United States and introduce them to the next generation of kids and youth.

STAR founded in 2015, it is a troupe that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the Tamil people through various traditional performance arts, such as parai, silambam,adimurai, oyilattam, karagattam, villuppattu, etc. We strive to promote and preserve the beauty and authenticity of these art forms while also creating opportunities for our youth to connect with their roots and cultural identity.

At STAR, we believe that the traditional performing arts are not just a form of entertainment but also a means of conveying our community’s values, beliefs, and history. We aim to inspire the next generation to appreciate and uphold their cultural heritage by learning and practicing these art forms.

As a Washington state registered nonprofit organization, we are dedicated to providing a platform for aspiring artists to showcase their talents while also offering various educational and training programs to enhance their skills. Our performances and workshops are open to all who are interested in learning and experiencing the beauty of Tamil traditional performing arts.
